Guru Arjan Dev Ji ascended to the Guruship in 1581 after Guru Ram Das. During his 25 years as the religious leader or Guru of the Sikh people, Guru Arjan Dev started working on the Sikhs holy book which is now known as The Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Arjan also completed the construction of Sikhisms holiest city Amrutsar - home of The Golden Temple and founded other cities sucj as Kartarpur and Taran Taran.
